I can't tell you how thrilled I am. This is not only the first book I ever wrote, but it's my first Superromance! I'm so happy that a story so close to my heart found such a wonderful home.
My husband and I have ridden more than 200,000 miles together on motorcycles, and have had lots of wonderful adventures. One day back when I was still riding pillion behind him, a dog ran in front of our bike. After a gut clenching scare, it trotted back the way it came, and we rode on.
But I started thinking. What if a girl, riding a motorcycle, was in an inescapable accident? Then, what if . . .
The idea grew into Her Road Home.
Widow's Grove's setting, California's Central Coast, is one of my favorite places on the planet. I hope that the story gives you the yen to see it. If you do go, be sure to drop in and meet Jesse, at the Farm House Café. Then and follow the road out of town. Turn in at the beautiful Victorian, sitting perched on a hill like a Grande Dame, holding dignified court over the tan hills.

Five "Plus" Stars from Start to Finish for 'Her Road Home'

Every once in a while, we all get that rush of excitement--those tingles that happen when we witness something magical, inspiring. Like when you see a brand-new movie that you know will win the Academy Award, and it later does. That's how I feel about this book, Her Road Home. It's RITA quality (that's the equivalent of the Academy Award for a Romance writer!).
So let me introduce to your next favorite book and its heroine, Samantha--better known as simply Sam. She's a visionary, a modern-day pioneer who sets out for a cross-country adventure all by herself on her bike. That's right, alone on a motorcycle. Yep, she's a biker chick. Yet underneath all that protective gear is a strikingly beautiful woman, but that doesn't even phase her. It's all about the bike...
And renovating homes along the way. Yeah, did I mention she's also handy with a hammer? Learned it from her dad. Grew up on construction jobs. Her passion is turning rundown, hopeless houses into real homes. She stays just long enough in a town to see a house renovated to completion, flips it, and then she's on her way. The open road is her only home, and she prefers it that way.
But the California coastal town of Widow's Cove is about to change all that.
Sam thinks she's simply passing through, but an accident leaves her asking for help from the town's sexy mechanic, Nick.
Sam isn't built for the kind of love and commitment Nick has to offer. At least that's what she keeps telling herself, even after she picks up Bugs (you'll have to read to find out what I mean!). But can Nick, the town, and Sam herself help heal her from the real reason why she never settles down?
This book will take you on an emotional journey that will settle in your heart long after you've turned the last page. I'd be surprised if Her Road Home doesn't end up with some kind of an award... after it first steers us into a deep reflection about not just Sam, but ourselves, too.

Her Road Home is the second opportunity I have had to read Laura Drake's work. Once again I have found Ms. Drake to have tremendous talent writing a very emotionally touching story with compelling characters. I have to admit there were a few times I was reaching for the Kleenex box when reading this book.
Samantha Crozier has been through a lot in her life. She has scars from her past that are controlling her life and not in a good way. I found a deep connection with Sam and wanted to reach out and help her. She has emotional walls that she has built around herself in the process of redoing houses along her travels. She has a tough and strong biker chick exterior but on the inside she is full of deep emotions from her past. When she meets Nick she starts to long for all those things in life she has been running from. A place to call home and a love deep enough to share her secrets.
I adored Nick, this man truly is a gentleman. Not only is he the hunky mechanic that can fix Sam's bike. He has the patients and caring to help Sam try to fix her life. How could you possible not fall in love with this guy?
On the whole this book has my kind of mix of drama and romance. I found it to be a very enthralling reading that had me turning the pages very quickly.
Ms. Drake does a fabulous job of creating characters that feel like friends and story lines that can really touch your heart. She is certainly on my MUST read list! I can't wait to see what wonderful story she creates for us lucky readers next!

Once again, Laura Drake hits it out of the park

As with her first book, The Sweet Spot, Laura provides us with very realistic characters in Her Road Home. I love that her main characters are dealing with personal difficulties, and it is wonderful to see them grow and learn and love each other even more for the journey. Laura provides us with stronge female characters, ones that we can relate to, and the plot is fantastic. A "biker chick" who rehabs homes that she finds on her journey accross the country, who meets the man she falls in love with by a twist of fate....got to love that! A very relistic and enjoyable book for anybody who loves a well-written novel with excellent character development, not just romance readers. I would highly recommend this book to all my friends!
