nice book for beginners, but not for more advanced weavers
By Katalina
I was attracted to this weaving book because of the lovely cover. But like the old adage (about telling a book by its cover), what was inside wasn't exactly what I was looking for. It seems very good for beginners--lots of pictures and help on the basics. But for those who are more advanced, it is lacking. There is more emphasis on the setup and technique, leaving only about a third of the material for actual projects. So, I'll use that one intriguing pattern, and will probably find another home for the book--not exactly what I wanted to do with those dollars. If you're starting out with weaving, I recommend it. If you're above a beginning level, I recommend passing it by.

Excellent book for learning weaving - great photos
By Urban Fiber
This book contains some of the best and most informative photos I have ever encountered for how to get started with weaving. Clear photos show every step of preparing your loom to weave. Many books gloss over the set-up phase of preparing to weave, or only have a written description. Setting up a loom by yourself as a beginning weaver can be an exercise in frustration, and a real stumbling block to people who do not have access to an experienced weaver, local guild or classes. This is not primarily a "pattern" book, though there are some patterns included. All the patterns in the world won't help if you can't get a warp on your loom successfully. I wish that this book had been available when I first started weaving. Even though I am more experienced now, I consider Rabbit Goody's book a valuable addition to my weaving library.

Defnitely Some Info Lacking
By Jacqueline
This book is written for the beginner weaver. I cannot recommend it though because, while there might be a lot of necessary info, there is one thing glaringly lacking which will cause any new weaver problems. When you wind your warp onto the back beam you MUST put some sort of warp separator between the threads. Corrugated cardboard, warp sticks, heck even paper grocery bags. If you don't your warp will pack together and there will be no way to move the warp forward to weave. This is not mentioned in the text or shown in the pictures. I don't understand how this was left out as this is basic warping info. If the book were to be reissued with this info included I would rate it higher. As it is there are much better books for the beginning weaver out there.
