This book is AMAZING!

Learning about ADHD and ADD is highly important: especially when you are teaching, counselling and ministering. Many public and private schools and churches are trying to find new ways to understand, detect and communicate with people that have ADD/ADHD. For those who do not know the meaning of both, here it is. People with ADD or the Attention Deficit Disorder are usually inattentive and easily distracted. People with ADHD or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder have a combination of ADD mixed with impulsiveness or hyper-activeness. According to scientific research, both are caused by a chemical imbalance problem. I have worked with many youth in the church and have seen this type of behaviour. I didn't know what to do, so I consulted with my pastor at the church. He decided to have a meeting with everyone that have leadership roles. He even called in a professional. The professional that I am going to call Mr X was highly informative. He even brought several copies of "May I Have Your Attention Please? Ministering to those with ADD/ADHD in a Distracted World”. We were given the book as part of training. I went home to read this book right away I was amazed at how this book expressed the full details of medical research and what to look for in people with both ADD/ ADHD. The examples are amazing! For over a month, I have been reading this book repeatedly I am now able to communicate more effectively with my Youth Counselling groups. We have created support groups based off the book. It has been a huge success amongst the leaders in the church. Can you believe that parents are more involved than ever before? I am amazed! I have bought my own copy and can't wait to see what books come out next.

Very well done and good information.

Attention Deficit Disorder and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder are two disorders that medical studies show are on the rise. Any group that is involved with people needs to learn to face the reality of working with people who suffer from these disorders.
This book was written so that pastors and church leaders could better understand people who suffer from ADD and ADHD and to help them effectively minister to those who suffer from this disorder.
Having spent over 40 years in spiritual counseling I have seen an increase in ADD and ADHD but I have never had a formal plan to deal with the problem. It has always been dealt with on an individual basis but never as a community.
This book helps you understand the two disorders in a way that nothing else I have read does. You can find information about the disorders all over the Internet. In this book, I was able to find the resources that I need to improve the way I interrelate to people with the disorder.
There were two parts that stood out. One is the Chapter that explains the disorders and how to work with them and the other is the chapter that talked about working with volunteers. Those two chapters made this book a very good investment.
One last thing, even though this book is for ministers and church groups the information would help any group or organization to sit up a program to deal with people suffering from the disorders. Also, the chapter on working with volunteers would be helpful to any group that works with volunteers for any reason.

This book thoroughly explains how to love and minister to those with A.D.H.D. in ways that far surpass the ways of the world! There is no better Christian or secular source of knowledge and wisdom in order to help those with A.D.H.D. who go to church on a regular basis feel accepted in the worship environment they are in. This book also talks of preaching and counseling methods that are effective in order to help those with A.D.H.D. better understand themselves and know God better. You can easily have lots of knowledge, but knowledge is not power unless you have the wisdom to back it up and put that knowledge into practice in practical ways. Knowledge is only powerful when you have the ability to take action as well! This book gives you the ability to take action, and can help draw those who feel alienated much closer to the Lord.
